Reserve duck breeds are mainly grazed, with appropriate supplementation of concentrated feed to prevent over fertilization, early maturity, or poor development of ducks, providing reliable guarantees for the yield and egg quality of the duck population after opening. How to feed reserve ducks?
1、 The principle of feeding is "two ends of fine, middle of coarse", which means that after being converted into reserve female ducks, they still use fine feed, gradually increasing coarse feed, and feeding fine feed near the egg laying period to promote the onset of production and peak egg laying period. Start production at 150 days of age, and feed "meat and vegetables" 2-3 times a day. Do not overeat at noon to avoid affecting foraging. When feeding, rice or other feed can be placed in the river to exercise the duck's diving and foraging abilities.
2、 The diet extensively uses green and coarse feed in its composition, with green feed accounting for 55% to 70% and coarse feed accounting for 20% to 30%, combined with 10% to 15% grain feed. In terms of nutritional content, a crude protein content of 14% of the diet is sufficient. Pay attention to supplementing minerals appropriately. If the reserve duck is too fat before laying eggs, it should be "slimmed down" by reducing the amount of supplementary feed and strengthening grazing to allow it to lose weight appropriately. It usually starts 30 to 40 days before laying eggs, and returns to normal after 15 to 20 days. It is recommended to increase feeding and gradually raise ducks according to the standards of egg laying ducks. In this way, egg laying can begin after another 15 to 20 days.
